Last weekend at UFC Singapore, Rose Namajunas made her much-awaited octagon comeback. The fighter went against rising flyweight contender Manon Fiorot but unfortunately for Namajunas, the fight didn’t go as planned. The ‘Thug’ put up a great fight but ultimately lost the bout via unanimous decision to the French.
It was Namajuna’s second consecutive UFC loss, something her fans didn’t expect given her past records. During the fight, Namajunas’ main coach, Trevor Whitman, wasn’t present and Pat Barry was the only one who gave him instructions. After the fight, many fans claimed that Barry was the reason Whitman didn’t come to the fight.
However, in a recent Instagram live, Namajunas went on a rant about Barry has nothing to do with Whitman’s absence. She said, “Everybody wants to s***t on Pat and just makes assumptions because that’s the way things are no matter what. People are just going to assume that he’s the reason why he (Trevor) wasn’t in my corner. It has nothing to do with Pat, it has everything to do with me and [Justin] Gaethje and him having a fight with the BMF and all that stuff and I did not want to interfere and I stayed back.”
The fighter also revealed that there are some other reasons too but she doesn’t want to talk about their personal lives. It seems like, in her last training camp, Whitman was busy with Justin Gaethje and didn’t fully give time to Rose Namajunas.
Namajunas’s loss against Manon Fiorot was something a lot of fight fans were expecting, however, It’s important to mention that Rose Namajunas experienced a broken finger during the initial round of the fight, significantly affecting the next two rounds.
In a video shared by her manager Brian Butler-Au on Twitter, ‘Thug Rose’ discussed the mental struggle she encountered due to this injury and replied to Fiorot about her being too small for the division.
She said, “Dude, you felt no stronger than Weili, you felt no stronger than Weili and I beat her as* twice. So shut the fu*k up, I’m not too small for flyweight. You can say anything else, you can say you beat on points, it’s okay.” Namajunas claimed that Fiorot could say that she beat her in points but saying she was not suitable for the weight class didn’t make sense.
In case you missed it!
