Sauce Gardner picked a horrible time to announce his Call of Duty tournament. The New York Jets cornerback almost presented himself as cannon fodder on social media after the announcement coincided with Donald Trump’s assassination attempt.
On July 13, the Republican leader was at a Pennsylvania rally for his presidential campaign when an unknown assailant fired three rounds at him. Trump managed to survive with a bloody ear, per ABC News, as the Secret Service escorted him away.
One person was killed and two were injured in the process. The snipers later took down the shooter, who allegedly fired the shots.
Sauce Gardner, who saw the whole incident go down through his TV screen, posted a rather bizarre comment on X (formerly Twitter), which he later deleted.

— garrett🦅 (@jalenreagors) July 13, 2024Apparently, he wrote the comment as a joke. However, he soon realized that he had gone too far; no wonder he quickly removed the tweet. After that, he went on damage control, claiming that his post wasn’t directed at Donald Trump’s shooting.

— SAUCE GARDNER (@iamSauceGardner) July 13, 2024Earlier in the evening, he posted several updates about a Call of Duty tournament on Twitch. He invited 2 NFL players besides himself, content creators, and a COD pro. He even set a prize pool of $41,000.

If you competed in WSOW, you are considered a "pro". Other than that, you will be a "content creator" so there's no power teams🫡 https://t.co/2AEQwbfPQs
— SAUCE GARDNER (@iamSauceGardner) July 12, 2024The University of Cincinnati graduate got bombarded with comments questioning his intention and the timing of the post. Several raised their eyebrows because Gardner deleted the post.
The 23-year-old, to make amends, shared a photo of Donald Trump raising his fist up in the air as the Secret Service shields him.

— SAUCE GARDNER (@iamSauceGardner) July 14, 2024In another post, he confessed to never voting in his life and said that people should not judge someone by which political side they support.
In all honesty, I never voted before and am unfamiliar with politics, but I do think it's odd to judge people based on who they vote for. Maybe it's not odd and I just don't understand because I'm not familiar with it. Somebody fill me in.Gardner quipped

— SAUCE GARDNER (@iamSauceGardner) July 14, 2024Surprisingly, the 2022 defensive rookie of the year never voted, considering the legal age for casting a vote, is 18 after the 26th Amendment. Regardless, Sauce realized that, unlike Antonio Brown, he doesn’t have the leverage to post just about anything on social media.
