In the recent years gone by, the rise of Houston Astros in MLB has been breathtaking. Since moving to the American League in 2013, they have been on a roll. This American League Championship Series (ALCS) marked the seventh straight time they had been fighting for the pennant. Their reign as champions was brought to an end as the Texas Rangers eliminated them in Game 7.
The Astros are not the only ones who are being criticized and slammed on social media. With the Los Angeles Dodgers losing in the NLDS to the Arizona Diamondbacks, this will mark the first time since 2016 that neither of them will be in the World Series.
The 2017 series was contested between these two where the Astros won their first title by edging them out 4-3. The Dodgers would reach the World Series in 2018 as well but were run over by a dominant Boston Red Sox.
The year 2019 saw the Washington Nationals stun the Astros in the Fall Classic. The following year, the Dodgers finally won it all albeit in a shortened 60-game season. Since then the Astros have made two trips to the World Series, losing and winning one.
The fans on the other hand have been voicing against these two. The infamous “sign-stealing” scandal of the Astros has put some dark patches on their recent shining history. Meanwhile, the Dodgers have also been accused of cheating.
“All good things must come to an end,” is a statement heard on several occasions. The runs made by the Houston Astros have been great while reaching the latter stages consecutively. However, one section of the fans has not been kind to them and is now celebrating their failure.
While calling out the two teams in a post shared on X (now called Twitter), one user wrote, “Thanks for ending the cheaters dynasty.” This was probably written to thank the Texas Rangers for eliminating their rivals. Check out that and several other reactions regarding their elimination from the playoffs this season:
While the fans are enjoying themselves out there, there seems to be some interesting development in Houston. As per rumors, manager Dusty Baker is not expected to return as the coach next season. If it comes to be true, this will be his final game with the Astros.
The Rangers on the other hand are now preparing for their first trip to the Fall Classic since 2011. They will take on the winner between the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks, who themselves are preparing for a huge Game 7 on Tuesday night.
