NASCAR is the premier Stock car racing sanctioning body in the world. It organizes three premier national tier races and other regional races. The three premier championships at the first-tier Championship Cup Series, the second-tier Xfinity Series, and the third-tier Truck Series. Alongside organizing the races, it also offers financial assistance to teams and drivers in a way other than the race prize pool.
The Dash 4 Cash is a financial assistance program for full-time contenders in the NASCAR Xfinity series. Started in 2009, the program sponsored by Xfinity offers a $100K prize to qualified drivers who finish on the top during selected race weekend. The prize is limited to Championship Chasers, and no part-time drivers are eligible.
Dash 4 Cash occurs in a selected stretch of four races during the season. In to 2023 season, it is scheduled to take place at Raceway (April 1), Martinsville Speedway (April 15), Talladega Superspeedway (April 22), and Dover Motor Speedway (April 29). 4 top contenders from each weekend will get the prize.
The program is exclusively for full-time Xfinity drivers and must be declared to collect points on the race. Four drivers are selected each weekend based on their previous weeks’ exploits for the chase. The top 4 finishers from the previous week can compete for the prize. The one who finishes high among the 4 will be awarded 100K and will also be eligible for the second race of the stretch alongside the other 3 top finishers of the day.
A driver can win all four Dash 4 Cash in NASCAR if he is qualified to compete and finishes on the top among his fellow chasers. If the driver is able to earn the $400k over the whole stretch, it will be a big help for the team to financially sustain their operations and fund any extra efforts they want to explore for Maximizing performance.
It’s a program aimed at rewarding consistency over securing wins occasionally. The drivers don’t necessarily have to win races to earn the prize. The highest finisher of the 4 qualified will be given the prize. If the race winner wasn’t part of the 4 chasers during the stretch, he doesn’t have to worry as he will be eligible for the next races’ chase.
