Just when it all looked good for the Jacksonville Jaguars under their franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the offensive tackle Cam Robinson gets hit with a suspension from the NFL. According to the renowned NFL insider Adam Schefter, the league has suspended Robinson for four games in the upcoming season.
According to Schefter, the Jaguars left tackle Cam Robinson has been suspended by the league for four games after he violated NFL‘s performance-enhancing drug policy. Despite the suspension, Robinson is still allowed to participate in the Jaguars’ training camp, but he will sit out the first four games in the 2023 regular season and will lose $3,555,552.
Additionally, the suspension also voids the guarantee of a $16 million base salary in 2023. Robinson has released a statement and has apologized to the fans, coaches, and teammates for his actions.
“As a veteran leader in the locker room, I always want to set a good example and my actions in this instance are not a reflection of that goal. I apologize to the fans, my coaches and, most importantly, my teammates,” Robinson said in a statement, according to the Jaguars. “It hurts me that I cannot be out there with my brothers at the start of the regular season.”
Furthermore, Robinson also claimed that he will participate in the off-season training camp just like he always had to prepare himself physically and mentally for the upcoming challenge. The Jacksonville-based football team has also released a statement claiming that they’ll wholly support Robinson and will back him as he works his way through the 4-game suspension.
In the 2022 season, the Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence proved to everyone that he has the potential to become the franchise leader in the NFL. He led his team to a playoff appearance exceeding everyone’s expectations.
Now, Cam Robinson’s suspension could be a huge loss for Lawrence and the Jaguars. Robinson, who protects the blind side of Trevor Lawrence, is a 7-year veteran. He just signed a massive 3-year contract extension worth up to $54 million with the Jaguars in the 2022 off-season.
Robinson has been a big part of the Jaguars’ O-line. Losing him could’ve been a disaster if they didn’t draft tackle Anton Harrison in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Now, they have the luxury of moving OL Walker Little to his natural position, left tackle, and starting rookie Anton Harrison as the right tackle. Little has shown some promising flashes whenever he got the chance to start for the Jaguars. Now, he might end up taking over Robinson in 2023.
